I’ve heard so many people talk about what they’d tell their younger selves and I started to wonder what I’d tell my younger self.
There is so much I’d want to tell her like:
- Figure out who you are when you’re single
- You don’t need to be dating someone to matter
- Your voice NEEDS to be heard
- Letting others know when they hurt you is ok
- Silence is therapeutic
- Stop trying to be who others want you to be
- it’s ok to ask if you don’t know the answer
There is so much more but that list would get incredibly long if I kept going.
While there is so much I’d want to tell her and lessons I’d want to teach her so she wouldn’t have to learn them the hard way, I wonder if that would be the right thing. So many of my challenges have formed who I am (and who I’m still becoming) and I would fear that saving my younger self from these hard lesson would change my older self.
I do think I’d tell her the important things like:
- Don’t let anyone change you
- The first guy to propose may not be the right guy
- If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t
- Your weight doesn’t define your worth
And so much more.
If you could talk to your younger self what would you tell him/her?
Much Love, R
