Lose fat, gain muscle

Recently I decided to go to a boot camp class to help kick my butt into gear. After having our son I have been extremely negative about my weight so I decided that change was necessary and that I needed professional help.

I joined a boot camp that I knew would give me results. I went for an hour, three times a week, for six weeks. It was incredible! I was being active and feeling so much better not only physically but mentally as well! I made new friends and caught up with some old ones. I learned that my body had so much more to give than I expected. I got stronger, like a lot stronger. Some of the biggest changes I noticed where that I went from only being able to a do a weighted squat with a 60lb. bar to being able to do them with a 60lb bar and 50lb plates (if you’re keeping tack that means at the end of the six weeks I was doing weighted squats with 110lbs of weight). I also managed to go from not being able to do a weighted leg press (seriously, I could not move the press without assistance from my trainer) to being able to do them with over 260lbs of weight!

Did I lose a ton of weight? Yes and no. I actually ended up having a higher number on the scale when the six weeks ended BUT once my evaluation was done I learned that my body fat went down and I had gained 6 pounds of muscle!! In my side by side pictures I can see the changes, I can actually see abs trying to pop through! Although I am not technically “lighter” than I was when I started I am definitely stronger! I feel more confident, I have more energy, and I am overall happier. I didn’t know it when I started but those were the results I NEEDED.
