After this is done, who will you be?

I know right now, during all the Coronavirus issues, most of us have changed our routine and even who we are to make sure we’re doing what’s best for our families and our communities. I want to ask you a question that will take some personal reflection today. When everything is over and the fear has passed, and it will, who will you be?

Will you go back to life as it was? Or will you continue with the safety measures the CDC as been telling us to do? Will you still find time to wash and sanitize your hands? Or will rinsing with water be enough again?

More than that, will churches and prayer still be places you run to? Will it become just another building (much like it did weeks after 9/11)? Will you still do whatever you can to help first responders or will we go back to fearing for every police officers life because of the threats they receive? Will we continue to teach our children that staying away from people when you’re sick is the right thing to do or will we let them go to birthday parties with runny noses and coughs? Will we continue to spend thousands of dollars on vacations just to stare at our phones? Will we continue to fight for the small businesses in our communities?

There is so much uncertainty in today’s society. We have no idea if we’ll be put under martial law soon or if we’ll be released from all restrictions. I know so many vacations, weddings, and other celebrations have been cancelled in the last few weeks but it won’t be like that forever. Now is the time to start thinking about who we will be when it’s all over. I, for one, want to start building a better world for us to leave behind. I want the sky’s in China to become clearer, the canals in Italy to be clean, and so much more. Perhaps this is the “start over” button that our world has been longing for. The start of less driving and more walking, less technology and more family, less fast food and more homemade, and so much more.

As you go about your day I ask you to take a moment and think about who you want to be when this is over. Let me know in the comments who you aspire to be after this passes.

This. Everyone needs to open their eyes to the opportunity this is giving us to start over or make small changes to our lives that will have huge impacts down the road. Thank you so much for putting this into words. ❤
